Australian Toyota LandCruiser 2022 LC300 model range differences, new accessory details

Wondering what the specification differences are between the models? Here’s a complete run-down of the differences, direct from Toyota. Prices are exclusive of on-road costs.

UPDATE: Towing and payload analysis, LC300 vs L200 – now I have all the specs!

A common question is whether you’ll be able to option offroad features like the lockers on lower-spec models. No, is the answer – Toyota want you to get into the higher models. Now here’s my view; you don’t need the GR Sport extras to go anywhere in Australia. Grab a GX, put offroad tyres on it, suspension lift and off you go. If you want to spend the extra $40k or so then do so, but you don’t need to. Personally, for offroading and towing I’d look first at GX on the basis of price and greater payload than the others. I would however swap those steel 17s on the GX for alloy 17s to save unsprung weight..but as they’re 6-stud now not 5 then existing LC200 wheels won’t fit.

I asked Toyota why they fitted 18s to the GR Sport and the answer was that they felt it fitted the expected use case of the GR Sport better than 17s; so mixed on/offroad.

Also confirmed that the snorkel is a raised air intake, NOT a fully-sealed snorkel. So, I’d be looking at aftermarket versions…hello, Safari!

The higher-spec models also get 5 driving modes not 3. This is frankly just overkill and a 2400kg 4X4 does not need multiple sport driving modes. Make your grade decision based on safety and luxury features.

As for stock availability “not much” is the answer. You’re all aware of the chip shortage and the effect on supply, so don’t expect a lot of availbility any time soon, or dealer discounts.

I am fully with you on the GX, just waiting an opportunity for a test drive. Hoping lots by the up spec models and flog off the alloys cheap for after markets as they do. Being a bit scrawny the steel wheels are hard work to change. Reckon a small gvm increase is still on the cards once a few accessories are added and allowing for 350 kg ball weight. The delayed delivery has messed with my desire to order once a full 6 months of product is on Aussie roads
